                        GEMDOS  Character Functions


GEMDOS provides a number of functions to communicate on a character basis
with the default system devices. Because of irregularities with these
calls in some TOS versions, usage of the BIOS functions is usually
recommended instead (the BIOS does not support redirection, however).
